Service Award
On 15th March 2012, Derby North's District Commisioner presented Helen with her 5 Year Service Award from The Scout Association.
Helen is the Beaver Leader from the 151st Derby (Allestree, St. Nicholas) Scout Group and with the help of her Assistant Beaver Leader and young leaders runs weekly meetings for approximately 15 Beaver Scouts aged between 6 and 8 years of age.
These weekly meetings are a great fun and provide fun and adventurous activities delivered in a safe environment to help the young beavers develop there personal and social skills whilst making friends and having fun
On behalf of all the Beavers that have been through the colony since Helen joined and from all the parents and other leaders THANK YOU and here is to the next 5 Years.
Summer of a Lifetime Partnership
The members of 151 Derby Scout Group will be returning in September to a freshly painted headquarters thanks to a partnership with another local charity - Community Action Derby.
The ‘Summer of a Lifetime’ team was looking for 4 projects for over August 2011. The programme is for 60 young people aged 16 across Derby city and they will be spending the summer holidays volunteering, going on residentials, attending workshops and gaining valuable skills that will help them in the future when going on to college, university, work and in to the next stages of their lives as young adults.
151 were lucky enough to be chosen as one of the 4 projects and on Monday 23rd August Community Action Derby's 'Summer of a Lifetime' team will take over the Scouts headquarters and re-paint it for them.
Updated: Charity of the Year
Starting from September 2011 we have chosen a charity of the year.
151 Derby Scouts will do a number of fundraising events were proceeds are split between the Scout Group and the chosen charity.
Our Charity for 2011 - 2012 is Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens Charity (Charity Number: 235825).
We have chosen this Charity to help support the effort of one of our former Cub Members, now a member of our Scout Troop and their family who have an extremelly close and special relationship with Great Ormond Street Hospital and as a result are aiming to raise £5000 this year for them.
